My friend V is an artist. I'm not sure how long she has been without insurance but last December she found a lump in her breast. She was upset about it and told her partner that she needed to be more agressive about asking for her company to provide domestic partnership health insurance benefits. She also talked to other people who had breast cancer and everyone said that it was probably nothing. I don't know how long she has had the health insurance but she said the lump which is below her breast like where your underwire might meet your chest wall, has grown to the size of an egg. She went to a general practictioner who immediately referred her to a breast center. There was only one doctor on staff who apparently doesn't have any bedside manner. He said that she has breast cancer and told her she needed a mammogram but she had pain and wanted an ultrasound like her GP said that she'd probably have. According to V, he put his hands on her shoulders when she said she was going to find another doctor who would do it when he refused. She eventually left and talked to her GP who made arrangements for the ultrasound and the tech said that it looked bad. The next step would be a biopsy from the previously mentioned bad doc with no bedside manner and the results would be in on Monday. She decided to wait for the biopsy with a different doc on Monday with the results on Tuesday. She felt the difference of a day was not worth dealing with bad doc for. She seems incredibly positive but her partner is having a hard time.

Please send her all the healing thoughts, prayers and etc.
