Saturday, drove all day through lots of horrid snow and ice. We got to St. Louis later than hoped but settled in okay.
Sunday drove from St. Louis to Biloxi, came in time for dinner. We settled in, couldn't sleep well being in a new place and everything.
Monday my group went to do drywall and taping but turns out another church showed up instead so we went to Anne's house and painted for her. She was expecting to paint with her son and get done by the end of the week or so. Our group took care of it in a day. Yeah, that was cool. She was pretty amazing and brought us gatorade, candy and gum, gumbo, shrimp po' boys and etc. Unfortunately, I don't like fish or seafood much. I went to the salvation army for lunch. I spoke with a couple of other Universities who were very interested in our volunteer program. Monday night, there was talk about not enough food so me and 3 guys left and ate at a local mexican place. It was very good. So strange to be in the company of men since I am so often in the company of mostly women when I'm socializing (it felt like I was socializing).
Tuesday my group went to a national park to assemble picnic tables. Our group did 23 of them, we rocked! The group the day before only made 20 and we also took a hike, saw an alligator. Had our lunch down by the ocean and spoke with a naturalist. When we got back, I took a shower and relaxed. I'm going to bed earlier than last night I suspect.

Okay...that's all the energy I have to post tonight.

Yikes!

It's been crazy snowing here in MN. I didn't have to go to work today thankfully one of my other co-workers covered my "late shift". Last night P came out and I was able to get my other car in for a new timing belt and water pump. It sucked driving it in the snow because it's so light I was fish tailing it when I went to turn into the mechanic's garage. Driving in P's car was so much nicer, she's got a new 2007 Nissan Murano with AWD and some electronic traction thing that straightens out your car.

What did I do today? I just enjoyed not doing anything. I did make some lunch for the boy and I (he's home from school too, canceled tomorrow as well). I took a nap because I didn't get much sleep last night, grin. I'm also reading a book about long term gay and lesbian relationships, pretty good reading so far (just into chpt 1).

I'm starting to worry about going to work tomorrow. I do want to go to work because of the kick off party for the spring break trip that is scheduled to leave on Saturday. We're also suppose to pick up the rental vans for the trip. If work is canceled, I will likely not go. The next time I will be there is Saturday morning at 5:30. Right now I-35 through Iowa is closed (route we'd be taking) but I'm guessing by Saturday it should be open. I hope the drivers of the other vans will be experienced enough to drive okay in the weather.

As if that wasn't enough to worry about, I called my mom to check on her and make sure she made it home okay from work. She let me know that she was fired on Wednesday. Hmm...not sure what's happening there. She's blaming the agency, she says the agency says she "resigned" so they don't have to pay unemployment. I don't know exactly why they fired her, I think I don't want to know. During the conversation that I had with her earlier this week, she mentioned something about this being just like what happened with XXXXX agency. That's exactly what I'm afraid of but she doesn't seem concerned.

I probably should go to bed since I'll have to get up early for check the roads and etc. for work tomorrow. Wish me luck!

P's still recovering from her pneumonia, we might venture out tonight for a brief dinner with friends. This is assuming that she sleeps all day so she's got the energy. I think she's feeling a little stir crazy but she really can't overdo it, which she has a tendency of doing.

I've got to get on a schedule. It's been tough and my energy isn't very high either. I go back to work on Tuesday with essentially nothing done that I had planned. My entire time off, I've been sick.

Last night the boy had a performance at his school. He's in the art's magnet program through his high school. It was really fun to watch all the performers. He was in a poly rhythm performance and an all class dance number. I was very impressed, especially since he took it on himself to do the rhythm performance~above and beyond. His father actually attended as well, he so rarely does that. My sister drove up from Iowa to attend which was great, she planned to stay at my house and visit today but I recommended she steer clear from the house of the long drawn out illness.

I did get accepted as a faculty leader for the alternative spring break program, where I would drive down to Biloxi and help out Katrina victims for the week. This is assuming that I continue my contract at my current position.

In a couple of weeks, I've got a 2nd interview with a national online university based out of Minneapolis. I'm excited because I know a number of people who work there. Not so exciting is that I have to prepare a 15 minute presentation and handle a 30 minute Q and A for about a dozen people who work there.

anyways...I'm tired, I should take a nap now....
