May. 1st, 2005 08:11 amTo the mothers on LJ, how do you get your adolescent boy to maintain connections with you? My boy agrees to do things with me(Sedar and the parade) and then changes his mind, all he does is sit in front of the computer playing games. I've at least been able to get him to do a little cleaning but he goes right back. He didn't even want to go get his birthday present. I want to be able to make sure we can still talk but he refuses. For the parade, I asked him what I could do to convince him to join me and he kept talking about the drive, that it might rain and etc on and on. AARRGGHHH...
Now despite my complaining, I know it's all relative, he's doing much better in school and only continues to do better, this mid term 4 A's! I also know that I can trust him to act responsible but I want him to mix a little more with people because he's too young to be so introverted.
Friday was a good day, met with another local private college regarding filling in for someone out with health issues, it's likely going to happen, the people seem wonderful, another great name to add to my resume. Slowly but surely I hope to pay my dues and position myself to finally get the job that I want. I think I'd really like something in a private college library, I'm still pretty open to whatever the job would entail.
Afterwards, I went to my old school(cause it's a sister school the above mentioned school) and pulled everything off my "U-drive" which is where we could store stuff on the computers. I had a few powerpoint presentations left on there that I wanted to save.
Then on to have lunch with my ex to celebrate her B-day. She's turning 7 ! (Actually this is because I've decided to fall back to single digit birthdays and so just add the numbers until you get a single digit and that's your age!) I also picked up my dear friend R to join us. The birthday girl is going through a bit of stuff right now and wasn't particularly happy but you have to take people where they are, she eventually had to leave. Food was so YUMMY. I had curry chix salad sandwich with mixed greens and this wonderful sponge cake that had rasberry and lemon stuff in it, green iced tea.
Afterwards, checked out the great bookstore next door, purchased my Dad's B-day gift. Went back to R's and hung out, watched a movie, "Drop Dead Gorgeous" which was very entertaining. I totally love hanging out with R. She's having some tough times right now, but that's for her to decide what to do, I'll be there for her.
Saturday, worked at the college, for my last Saturday shift. Worked most of the day writing a report for the conference I attended, took much longer than I thought it might and it was less than 750 words! Came home spend most of the night talking on the phone including to my neighbor who called at 11:15 as I was about to go to sleep, he just bought a new car and was so excited. Funny guy.
Today will be the may day parade which I love. It may rain but that's okay, I'll just dress warm. I've gathered folks to join me and it's interesting to see who's responded. Last year R and I went with the boys, we had such a good time, afterwards played games at the local coffee shop. We even went curbcrawling and found some good stuff ! R's not sure that she wants to go this year, hopefully I can convince her just before we go.
Okay, I must be off now to have a little more fun before the week starts...
