zestfiveOkay this was an interesting weekend.
I drove 5 hours(one way) to spend about 36 hours with my son, my least favorite sister, my mother(whom I have issues with) and my ex-husband(whom my mother still refers to as her son in law).
Additionally, we're celebrating my birthday...tomorrow is the big 35!
We drove up into Canada (as my mother insisted she be able to take her grandson into another country)...we go look at a waterfall and then eat fast food before the best part of the trip. We were going to try and make it back in time for the fireworks. We leave the restaurant and head back(I think it's probably 1 1/2 hours back to the town). We cross the border and pull over so that my mom can use the restroom, she realizes that she's forgotten her purse. My sister becomes snotty about needing to go back and we've got to rush because there's a time change and they're going to close in 45 minutes and we're about 42 minutes away. We rush back and make it minutes before they close and now we've got to drive back again. My sister decides to sing various songs that I've never heard of and just parts of them...off key. My exhusband is sitting next to me sighing loudly. My mother is driving the car and freaking out about moose and leaving her brights on far too long when cars approach(or we're following them). It occurs to me that this is the 6th anniversary of my exhusband leaving me...I whisper that to him...he sighs again. I don't think we're going to make the fireworks, and mention that if we see large groups of cars as we get closer coming towards us, we've missed them. We see this about 5 minutes before we get back.
Now, I'm going to run off and finish my homework I should have done hours ago.
