So this weekend was another good one.

A and I rode our bikes into town and I was able to sit and work on some of my homework. We ended up riding home in the dark which was only slightly dangerous because we were on bike paths...but I almost rode off the path at one point. That night I woke up with huge aches on the top of my thighs(can you say out of shape ?) I was able take some Advil and it went away. We had fun. When we got home, my neighbors were having a fire(burning lots of garbage) turns out the woman across the street, I went to school with. We caught up and shared some stories.

Saturday I worked my part time job and then came home and rested. I was suppose to go to a party that a coworker was having but I changed my mind on the last minute because I wouldn't have had much time by the time I got there before I had to leave for the other event I was attending. I attended Genderblur which is a cabaret with lots of fun art stuff. This was the 2nd time I've attended it and I really enjoy seeing the wonderful talents of everyone.

After Genderblur I crashed at my sister's apartment because in the morning we all went to the Farmer's Market to celebrate her birthday. It was a little too hot for me to sleep without AC or even air movement from a fan. We got up and it was fun to see the farmer's market, I felt so tall with all the hmong folks since I'm only 5'3" ! I got corn, green beans and lemons. I also was very happy to find some rosemary and mint plants.

We also went to the wonderful Value Village and I picked up a couple of shirts and a wonderful $10 canister vacuum to take care of my new carpet.

My instructor for my next class just requested us to write a *brief* paragraph about ourselves...thought I'd include it here...minus some identifying information.

Currently I'm working 2 jobs and school part-time. I'm a single parent to a wonderful kid. I work full time as an Employment Specialist(assisting people who've been laid off find work) and part-time as a branch assistant in my local public library(for resume building). My long term goal is to be a less than full time academic reference librarian in a small progressive college town. My undergrad degree is from St. Cloud State University in Sociology and Anthropology. I've only lived in Minnesota in three counties(Hennepin(childhood), Stearns(undergrad degree) and Wright(currently)). I intend to remain where I am until my kid is launched and then I'm looking forward to satisfy my wanderlust. I recently realized the reason why I enjoy reference so much is because it enables me to find the resources to achieve my goals. My interests are varied including: music(folk, bluegrass, women singer/songwriters and etc), camping, living simplistically, Unitarian Universalism, reading (of course, *when* I have the time), scavenging and people on the fringe. I believe in alternative press, recycling and community based stuff. I grew up in a family of social workers and identify as "quietly alternative" but I get louder every day. I'm a good Minnesotan because I'm liberally thinking and financially conservative(so far no student loans !) but I doubt I'll go to the State Fair this year. I have an 18 year old cat named Jasmine. I believe that people are fascinating and life is an adventure !
