Pardon me being so busy to update my blog. I've been attending the state conference which has had some really good things come out of, personal and professional.

I'm a single parent and have been for like 8 years. He's 14. He spends anywhere from 30-60 days a year with his father. I know that he loves and admires his father (who wouldn't if all you got to do was play with him all the time) I have done my best to never talk bad about his Dad. I also feel like for the most part it's been me on my own doing the best I can. Often I've felt guilty about some of the long days I've put in finishing school and working various part time jobs trying to establish myself in my profession. I've tried to stay connected and current on his life even though sometimes its by the grace of god and by the seat of my pants.

Wednesday night when I came home from work, we had a great conversation. He showed me that he recently shaved for the first time! My baby is shaving! GRIN I had also recently taken away all his screens (video games, internet and computer ~ he still have standard tv). He told me he actually appreciated that I had done that because he didn't have the ability self manage. We talked about  how he could do baby steps (access for a few days or hours or whatever...) and that led into lots of other conversation. He told me about a girl who had been calling him. She asked him out, he said he'd rather be just friends. Then he told me about a girl that he did notice who's not in any of his classes but who he would like to get to know better. We also talked about religion and all sorts of amazing stuff. I think our conversation probably lasted 2 hours non-stop. He seems so amazing and grounded which I told him and expressed my love and joy of him for who he is. And so this doesn't sound so polly-annish, we did talk about things he could do better or the fact that I know there are things that he gets away with that I don't always catch.  When he went to bed, I told him how much I enjoyed our conversation and he told me that he did as well

I better run pretty soon, they're having the awards dinner. Never turn down a free meal!

Sounds like a good conversation with the Boy. Go you!
I just had a great free lunch today. It puts a nice shine on things.
