wonderful weekend !
Jul. 27th, 2003 07:40 pmFriday at work we had a meeting about our "strategic planning" (basically it was trying to pull back the morale of our agency after laying off 16 people. It sucked especially since it was a mandatory meeting and I was hoping to take a half day so I could get packed and out of town early for my camping trip. I was happy to actually get out of there by about 2pm.
We left town by 4pm and got to our destination by 7pm. Quickly we set up camp and settled in for a nice(humid and hot) night by the camp fire. Singing a few songs and telling stories. Staying up quite late (4am) talking about lots of stuff. I really enjoy my time with my friend R.
Saturday morning we get up and get breakfast and then charge off to the lake being that it was so dreadfully humid and hot. We hung out in the lake until about 4:30 floating on those blow up lounge chairs(I've gotta get some of those for me when I'm home at my lake !) It was wonderful, there were other folks there that we chatted with. At about 4:30 we went and started the fire again for roasting hotdogs and then some of us went for horseshoes and some for naps.
We hung out being quiet for a while and listening to some wonderful music(Sara Thomsen, Lori McKenna, Garrison Starr, Kasey Chambers, Sleater-Kinney). Another campfire and then around midnight, we went skinnydipping(or skinny rafting is more like it). We were petrified that the fishies were going to bite us and we didn't want to touch the weeds so we didn't stay long.
It was funny because R was feeling pretty excited and nervous about being there and saying that she wants to calm down so she can enjoy it. It didn't take me long before I was ready to go in and when I let her know that whenever she was ready we could go and she said "I'm ready now" and we both took off as fast as we could.
We sat at the end of the dock and watched the nothern lights and got to seek the milky way. It was really fun sitting their stark naked with the wonderful breeze.
We sat up and talked a little more before we went to bed.
In the morning a little breakfast and pack up the stuff and clean up the site. I definately want to go back ! This campground is women and children only and was so nice to be a part of.
I'm so happy that I don't have to work tomorrow(since I couldn't take off Friday, I took off Monday)
I'm hoping to start moving everything out of my living room and get some of that gawd awful brown icky carpeting pulled up so I can get some new stuff in there. I hope that I can get something done towards this.
